CoaXPress is an asymmetric, point-to-point communication standard that provides revolutionary high-speed video and image transmission over one or more cables. The technology combines standard coaxial (RG59 and RG6) with state-of-the-art high speed serial data technology to meet the new demands for extended cable lengths, increased data and speed, and lower costs.

Single-Cable Solution

This digital interface provides video, communication, control, and power over a single coaxial cable. It enables the transmission of data from device to host at high speeds, from a downlink of up to 6.25 Gigabytes per second per cable to up to 25 Gigabytes per second for four cables. Control and communications come at lower speeds of 20 Megabytes per second.

Going the Distance

CoaXPress carries multiple channels of data and meta-data over impressive distances, with up to 40 meters in length at high speeds and over 100 meters at lower speeds. This technology also enables the use of rotary joints and sliprings that further ensure greater options for continuous panning applications in defense, robotics, broadcasting and surveillance. The technology is also hot pluggable, allowing the addition of a component to a running computer system without having to restart the system. Precise triggering and real time behavior add to this overall flexible and reliable digital interface.
